This is my challenging yet successful piece i decided to draw an expressive picture of me smiling sense i've never tried this facial expression because i felt like it was to difficult. Before deciding to draw this i was going to try mechanical but i basically had a brain "fart" and couldn't think of anything good and creative enough to make the picture. I also felt if i drew in color i wouldn't like how it turned out at all because i'm still not very good with blending colors the right way. So i drew my portrait in pencil putting together a picture of me outside and added the trees in the back to replace houses and make the space not so empty but i got bored with drawing the little details of grass and the tree because the background space was to much for me to fill in so that's why it isn't finished. Out of all my pictures this one caught my eye because even not being finished this is the closest i've ever gotten to making a realistic picture and make it almost look just like the person. this shows my improvement in realism and i'm proud to have advance this much in my drawings because at one point i felt like giving up with drawing because i never thought i would be able to accomplish a realistic person drawing. I challenged myself in this by adding in dark values where it was needed and not making everything look one shade and making it as large as possible like i was told but i think i could've did bigger to fill in more space but i had already did to much and didn't want to start back over. I made sure to show the shadows in my face and where my hair is and adding them in my hair which was the most difficult thing out of the entire picture.
most successful projectthis my transparency drawing of marbles in a clear bag. the bag of marbles sit in the corner of my room above a dream stand. After taking a picture of them then looking at how they were set up i decided why not draw a scene instead of just marbles so the pie would have more to it and not be so simple. I also decided to cut the off at the end sense my nick name is drea so i wanted to make something with my name in it that i would like. I choose to use chalk because it seemed easy to blend although its very messy. I was able to create a the light purple of my wall by mixing white and purple and to show that the bag was see through i put light purple in side to give it that illusion and putting it in the hole and surrounding of the letters where it was needed. The marbles were probably the most challenging because i had to make different colors and glares to make sure they didn't all just go together and make them look more realistic. It was hard trying to blend the colors though bc of the marbles small size and how easy chalk wipes away. The bag containing the marbles was easy and i felt like i did a nice job on making it look at real as possible showing the reflection of light on it by using white and making it blend correctly with the purple in the back ground. the name took up most of my time i had to take my time drawing out the letters and making them look as professional as possible and then i had to keep drawing the pattern for the white and black ones over until i made each design almost symmetrical so no one was bigger than the other and they were lined in order. After i finished designing and coloring the inside i had to outline the pink ones with white which was difficult because i had to have a steady hand and make sure my lines were as neat as possible. Overall me deciding to create a whole scene instead of just one object helped make my project look better and was a good use of space i like this project a lot because it was the first project i actually finished completely and didn't have anything missing in the background or unfinished.

classmates blog - baileyI absolutely love her self portrait she used pencil and didn't add to much dark into her picture she added in the areas that really needed it. With her leaving her face mostly light and only adding dark to her eyes mouth, nose, and little areas like her cheek, chin and neck make her picture perfect to me. Instead of just making one picture she combined two pictures of herself into four section making a pattern and her doing this showed her ability to think creatively and try new things. She wrote how she originally was going to draw just blown up images of her face but she didn't like how it looked so she did this instead she said it was difficult to make each face line up correctly and had difficulty with adding the dark in the hair. She had to go back over her work and add in missing volumes that she needed and i feel like she is a really good artist and her details and proportions are so good. Her drawing is very original to me because instead of just mixing around her face with one picture she wanted to use two and it really showed how good she was when it came to proportioning a image.
